AOL/Huffington Post Making Race Baiting Calls about Jasper, TX Police Chief Rodney Pearson

After the last article I wrote last week about racism in Jasper, TX, I have received calls from residents of Jasper who say that AOL/Huffington Post called them regarding allegations that the Police Chief, Rodney Pearson, was being discriminated against because he is black. Talk about Race Baiting! The media does not care about the several white people who have filed lawsuits because they were discriminated against by the Police Chief and the City. They don't care about that. As soon as they hear that the black police chief claims he is being discriminated against, that is when they care. Can anyone say liberal media...

Black Jasper, TX City Council Pays White Police Officers in Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Settlement

I previously wrote an article about how the City Council of Jasper, TX (the majority of the council members are black) turned down several white candidates in order to hire a lesser qualified black candidate (with a criminal record) for Police Chief, Rodney Pearson. Several lawsuits were filed alleging racial discrimination. Jasper TX City Council Hires Black Police Chief based on Race, not Qualifications - White Officers Get Demoted - new Chief has Criminal Record - Several Lawsuits Filed Of course there were those who cried racism and said that the black city council members were being attacked because of...

White supremacist executed for Texas dragging

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — White supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was executed Wednesday evening for the infamous dragging death slaying of James Byrd Jr., a black man from East Texas. Byrd, 49, was chained to the back of a pickup truck and pulled whip-like to his death along a bumpy asphalt road in one of the most grisly hate crime murders in recent Texas history. Brewer, 44, was asked if he had any final words, to which he replied: "No. I have no final statement." He glanced at his parents watching through a nearby window, took several deep breaths and...

Mighty Jasper Duke (Vanity)

We just had to put our old pal Jasper down. This is pretty much the first time for me and it’s the saddest thing ever. He was our watchdog when the kids were little. We live across from the county jail which has since moved but when we first got Jasper they used to take the prisoners to court in the morning and bring them back around 2:30 in the afternoon. The police often had rounded up a few more criminals and since the jail was already overcrowded they had to release a few around the same time that the...

TxDOT's study to look into corridor

In what is being projected as an economic boom for the East Texas region (if it comes to fruition), the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will soon begin work on a feasibility study for an East-West corridor. The announcement was made last week as the TxDOT Commission voted to move forward with the study that will cost an estimated $2 million. The corridor is the brainchild of the Gulf Coast Strategic Highway Coalition. "If we had a major four-lane, east-west highway through Jasper it would mean to us what I-10 means to Beaumont and I-20 means to Shreveport," said Jasper...
