OWATONNA — Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, which has been in existence since 1957, is closing at the end of the year. On Tuesday, the Pillsbury Baptist Bible College Board of Trustees voted to cease academic activities on Dec. 31, said Tom Lawson, director of communications and financial aid at the school. Lawson cited national conditions combined with deficits caused by declining enrollment that exhausted the school’s financial reserves. It left the college without the necessary funds to complete the remainder of the school year.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Buttersworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The gravesite was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.
