His Royal Imperial Highness, Barack Obama II

America's constitutional structure is built on checks and balances. The idea behind these checks and balances is simple: We want interest counteracting interest, ego counteracting ego. We don't want any one person to gain too much power -- or any one faction or any one way of thought. Gridlock, for lack of a better word, is good. President Barack Obama, however, has a different idea. He believes that America must be fundamentally transformed. That fundamental transformation cannot be effectuated without a fundamental transformation of the system of American government. The most important part of that transformation is the elevation of...

Navy, air force going 'royal' once again

OTTAWA - The Canadian navy and air force -- officially Maritime and Air Command -- are going back to their 'royal' roots Tuesday. The two branches of the armed forces will officially revert to Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force respectively, names that ceased to be used in 1968 when the three branches were amalgamated as the Canadian Forces. The army will cease to be called Land Command and will instead be the Canadian Army. Last year, the Senate was studying what to do about the name of the navy, following a motion by former Liberal Senator Bill...

My mother didn't beat me - it was just a joke says Fergie as she backtracks on abuse claims

Just two months ago, she accused her mother of horrific abuse in an emotional outpouring on American TV. Her late mother, Susan Barrantes, regularly beat her, the Duchess of York alleged during her reality show Finding Sarah. 'When she used to hit me because I didn't sit on my potty or wouldn't eat, a little vein would come up on the centre of my head near my red hair,' she said, adding that her mother called it the 'sign of the devil' and would shout, 'I'm going to beat that devil out!'

Yearn for a conspiracy theory uniting Obama and the royal wedding? Yearn no more

Geoffrey Robertson in Fairfax's National Times yesterday: It is an open secret at the Commonwealth Secretariat that they do not want Charles III to be the next head of the Commonwealth when the Queen retires -- they are looking for someone more inspiring. Mandela, once the favourite candidate, is now too old. But there is an even better candidate whose name is being mentioned as an alternative to Charles in due course, namely ex-President Obama, with his Kenyan ancestry (as some believe, Kenyan birth). There are rumours that the palace's refusal to invite him to the wedding was neither oversight...

Who's going to the royal wedding? Check out the guest list!

Buckingham Palace today released an edited guest list for Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton. A glittering list? Not quite -- this royal wedding is no Oscars red carpet. But for celebrity spotters, there will be a few famous names or, as the Palace prefers to call them, people "who may be recognizable to television viewers," to look out for on April 29. As expected, top of the list is singer and musician Elton John, who sang a moving rendition of "Candle in the Wind" at Diana, Princess of Wales's funeral in 1997. Likely to be accompanied by his civil...

A little bust of Churchill keeps the Obama’s away from Prince William’s wedding

Globe Magazine again is breaking a story the lame brains in our so called media will not touch. “Michelle and the President are absolutely insulted,” reports the GLOBE, quoting its insider source. While other worldwide heads of state are invited, the Obamas have been excluded from the Royal nuptials, ostensibly because the affair is not a state occasion. But the GLOBE goes on to suggest the reason is because Michelle could upstage his bride or that she dissed the memory of Princess Diana by uttering rather catty remarks totally unappreciated across the pond. Now other reasons for the Obamas non...

That's Kate Middleton? Critics Slam New Royal Coin (William looks like Algore - ACK!)

That's Kate Middleton? Critics Slam New Royal CoinCritics say Kate Middleton has a reason to be mad about her likeness. The Associated Press 12:05 p.m. EST, December 24, 2010 LONDON -- Britain's Royal Mint has released a commemorative coin featuring supposedly lifelike portraits of Prince William and his bride-to-be - but critics say Kate Middleton has a right to be horrified. Images of the couple on the memento bear little resemblance to either the prince or his 28-year-old betrothed. Middleton appears plump in the face and lips and has bags under her eyes. Some critics claim William looks like Al...
