Republican Gov. Rick Scott is already getting ready for the 2014 election. So are the Democrats who hope to challenge him. The state Republican Party is buying television ads to promote Scott's policy successes in hopes of reversing voters' negative impressions. The governor and party are also raising money for his re-election.

AmEx put "fraud hold" on my Scott Walker contribution!!!!!

I gave $100 to "Friends of Scott Walker" on 4/2 using my Am Ex card. My card payments are current have been for decades. American Express sent me a snail-mail letter saying, they 'had a concern about 'possible fraudulent use of my card' - and STOPPED THE CONTRIBUTION. I called them, asked for an explanation, they said I'd need to resubmit it. Anyone else have this "problem"?

Tampa may seek Gov. Rick Scott's help keeping guns away from RNC protests

TAMPA — Frustrated by a Florida law that blocks all local regulation of guns, Mayor Bob Buckhorn expects to reach out to Gov. Rick Scott for help keeping concealed firearms away from protests during the Republican National Convention. The 2011 state law pre-empts the ability of cities and counties to pass any laws regulating firearms or ammunition. So while Tampa plans to ban a wide range of weapons (clubs, switchblades, Mace) and things that could be used as weapons (chains, glass bottles, water pistols) outside the convention, it cannot prohibit guns carried with a concealed weapons permit.
