Republican Gov. Rick Scott is already getting ready for the 2014 election. So are the Democrats who hope to challenge him. The governor and party are also raising money for his re-election.

Ridley Scott Opens Up About 'Prometheus,' Kick-Ass Women, and 'Blade Runner 2'

No project is off limits to Ridley Scott. Over the course of his 35-year filmmaking career, the English auteur has dazzled audiences with his thrillingly diverse oeuvre, tackling everything from science fiction (Alien, Blade Runner) and sword-and-sandals epics (Gladiator) to modern warfare (Black Hawk Down). He is probably the closest thing to this generation’s Kubrick. ..................................................... What about the rumored Blade Runner sequel? Funny enough, I started my first meetings on the Blade Runner sequel last week. We have a very good take on it. And we’ll definitely be featuring a female protagonist. (Emphasis Mine)

Florida Carry Hails Gov. Scott for Standing Up For Gun Rights

Tampa, Florida - -(Ammoland.com)- On behalf of Florida Carry’s over 9,000 members and supporters, we applauded the leadership displayed by Governor Rick Scott in his immediate and resolute response rejecting a request from Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn that the constitutional rights of Florida’s nearly one-million active concealed carry license holders be suspended under the Governor’s emergency powers. Last year, the legislature passed a bill adding penalties for local governments who enacted, enforced, or promulgated ordinances in violation of state preemption of the field of firearms and ammunition (F.S. 790.33). Despite the fact that the preemption statute had declared all such...

Gun ban at RNC too logical for Florida Gov. Rick Scott(barf alert)

The mayor's letter to the governor was all prudence and sensibility, a reasonable request for a temporary ban on guns at a potentially combustible, extremely crowded, very political event. Emphasis on political. Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn asked for a ban downtown during the Republican National Convention that will bring 50,000 people to town in August. Four days in a small and defined part of the city seemed no more an affront to the Second Amendment than, say, a three-day cooling-off period to buy a gun — a prudent rule that has no doubt saved lives. The potential for saving lives...

AmEx put "fraud hold" on my Scott Walker contribution!!!!!

I gave $100 to "Friends of Scott Walker" on 4/2 using my Am Ex card. My card payments are current have been for decades. American Express sent me a snail-mail letter saying, they 'had a concern about 'possible fraudulent use of my card' - and STOPPED THE CONTRIBUTION. I called them, asked for an explanation, they said I'd need to resubmit it. Anyone else have this "problem"?

Tampa may seek Gov. Rick Scott's help keeping guns away from RNC protests

TAMPA — Frustrated by a Florida law that blocks all local regulation of guns, Mayor Bob Buckhorn expects to reach out to Gov. Rick Scott for help keeping concealed firearms away from protests during the Republican National Convention. The 2011 state law pre-empts the ability of cities and counties to pass any laws regulating firearms or ammunition. So while Tampa plans to ban a wide range of weapons (clubs, switchblades, Mace) and things that could be used as weapons (chains, glass bottles, water pistols) outside the convention, it cannot prohibit guns carried with a concealed weapons permit.

War On Children: Liberals Attack Scott Walker's Kids

The left seems to have a really hard time leaving the kids of Republican politicians out of their fits of rage. Yesterday, Governor Scott Walker gave an interview to David Brody of CBN News in which he talked about the anger directed at his teenage sons and also his elderly parents: I had thousands of people bussed in front of my home in Wauwatosa where I've got two high school sons living, and I've got parents in [their] 70s. At one point last year, my 16 year old and my mother in her 70s were at a grocery store and...

Is Gov. Scott at war with academia?

Laying the groundwork to revamp higher education in Florida, Gov. Rick Scott has questioned the value of liberal arts degrees, dissed anthropologists, proposed ending tenure for professors and posted salaries of all state university employees on the Internet. Scott also recently sent a letter to state university trustee boards pushing for change on campuses. He included excerpts from a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece by Ohio University economics professor Richard Vedder, "Time to Make Professors Teach." Vedder derided much academic research as "obscure" and "trivial," noting there have been 21,000 scholarly articles on Shakespeare since 1980. "Wouldn't 5,000 have been...

Suffolk Poll Florida Marginals (Internals on poll)
